Origine et développement des cellules germinales chez l'huître creuse Crassostrea gigas : Intérêt pour le contrôle de la reproduction en écloserie. ArchiMer
Fabioux, Caroline.
A comprehensive knowledge of Crassostrea gigas oyster reproduction processes is essential to optimize controlled reproduction in hatchery. This study aimed to determine the origin and the mechanisms of annual renewal of germ cells, still unknown in oysters, and the influence of temperature and photoperiod parameters on the regulation of the reproductive cycle. We characterized an orthologue of the vasa gene, the Oyvlg (Oyster vasa-like gene), the first germ cell specific marker isolated in molluscs. This marker was used to study C. gigas germline development. Oyster germ cells appeared specified during early development from mesentoblast 4d, as primordial germ cells (PGCs) determined by maternal cytoplasmic determinants, including Oyvlg mRNA. In adult...

Time interval from ovulation to extrusion in female bullfrog in different photoperiods R. Bras. Zootec.
Agostinho,Claudio Angelo; Wechsler,Francisco Stefano; Castro,Cecilia Silva de; Agostinho,Lucas Miyabara; Ribeiro,Raphaela Rezende; Agostinho,Sueli Matiko Miyabara.
It was analyzed in this work the influence of photoperiod on time interval from ovulation induction period to extrusion of ovocits in female bullfrogs (Lithobates catesbeianus). It was used 54 females reared from metamorphosis to 9 months of age under three photoperiods: dark time (DL 0:24), 16 hours of daylight (DL 16:8) and 12 hours of daylight (DL 12:12). Ovulation was induced by intramuscular application of two doses of LHRHa with 12 hours of interval between the injections. After 10, 25, 28, 31, 34 and 37 hours from the first hormone injection, 10-gram samples (3,000 eggs) were extracted from each female at each time interval and fertilized. Egg hatching rate was checked in each sample 72 hours after fertilization. Analysis of variance showed a...

Transcriptomic Profiling of Egg Quality in Sea Bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) Sheds Light on Genes Involved in Ubiquitination and Translation ArchiMer
Zarski, Daniel; Thaovi Nguyen,; Le Cam, Aurelie; Montfort, Jerome; Dutto, Gilbert; Vidal, Marie-odile; Fauvel, Christian; Bobe, Julien.
Variable and low egg quality is a major limiting factor for the development of efficient aquaculture production. This stems from limited knowledge on the mechanisms underlying egg quality in cultured fish. Molecular analyses, such as transcriptomic studies, are valuable tools to identify the most important processes modulating egg quality. However, very few studies have been devoted to this aspect so far. Within this study, the microarray-based transcriptomic analysis of eggs (of different quality) of sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) was performed. An Agilent oligo microarray experiment was performed on labelled mRNA extracted from 16 batches of eggs (each batch obtained from a different female) of sea bass, in which over 24,000 published probe arrays were...
